The Give program, 'Grow, Invest, Volunteer, Enrich,' encompasses some of the values of our mission statement: Science for a better life.
Our mission empowers us as a corporate entity to make a positive impact in the areas in which we operate and helps to fulfill our role as a socially responsible corporate citizen. Bayer believes it has a responsibility to work hand in hand with the community as part of our company goal to benefit people and improve their quality of life.
Give provides a tangible way for employees to live some of Bayer’s core values such as respect for people and nature and sustainability of our actions. It also supports our employees in the community and charity activities that they embrace outside of work. This reinforces our philosophy towards providing more than just a job; for our staff. We aim to increase their work-life balance, bolster pride in working for Bayer and look at new opportunities to broaden their horizons and their skills.
With the challenges we all face in the current global economic climate, not-for-profits are experiencing greater demand for support from the community, in turn requiring greater support from those in a position to help. Bayer is committed to supporting the community for the long term.
There are four major initiatives for employee participation:
Bayer provides all employees with one day's paid leave per year for volunteering.
Bayer matches funds raised by employees dollar for dollar up to a limit, doubling the total that goes to charity. Typical staff fundraising activities include morning teas, competitions, fun runs or themed dress days.
Bayer provides grants to facilitate community activities for employees and their families. Grants are allocated based on set guidelines and must demonstrate benefit to the local community.
Overarching the Give program is the partnership with Mission Australia which has been active since 2005. In addition Bayer partners with a number of organisations in the areas of environment, science education, human and animal health and culture.
Seeking Bayer's support in Australia and New Zealand
Applications for sponsorships from Australian and New Zealand charities are currently closed.
We welcome applications for sponsorship, however, as we receive hundreds of proposals each year we regret that we cannot meet all requests.
Bayer’s Key Themes
Whilst Bayer supports a wide range of activities, our strategic focus is on the environment, education, health, research and communities. These themes complement Bayer’s core business. Bayer Australia commenced a partnership with Mission Australia in 2005 and with The Kids' Cancer Project in 2012. In New Zealand Bayer partners with United Way. As a result of these partnerships Bayer is unlikely to support requests from other not-for-profit organisations which are not aligned to our core business activities. In addition, through the Bayer Give program, we select other charity and community initiatives to support based on the causes that our employees are passionate about. Bayer does not support political or extreme religious organisations.

Please allow us as much time as possible to consider your proposal - a minimum of six to nine months lead time is a good guide for our planning process.
