Social Initiatives

Empowering communities through inclusive growth

We are leveraging our expertise in science and innovation to support the health, nutrition, and wellbeing of our most vulnerable communities across Australia and New Zealand. Our focus is to support equitable access to health and nutrition and contribute towards improving health outcomes for underserved communities.

Bayer is in a unique position to support positive impact on climate action, food security and health equity. Coupled with the aspiration to become the best life science company, we are embracing sustainability and working towards action that can positively impact Australia and New Zealand communities while protecting our environment.

Strengthening communities

Our goal is to strengthen underserved communities and working on a number of initiatives to advance this goal:

  • Improve health outcomes for underserved communities, through our flagship partnerships such as Red Cross Baby Hub and the Bayer Big Fish Challenge.
  • Empower women and improve healthcare access through GP and Healthcare Professional education programs, partnerships and government advocacy on key issues such as access to modern contraception.
  • Advance diversity, equity and inclusion, through our ‘game changer’ commitments to close the gender pay gap by 2025, build allyship and advocacy for LGBTQIA+ and drive advocacy and reconciliation for First Nations Peoples.

Education and research

In the ANZ region, we support youth agricultural education programs through partnerships with Future Farmers Network (FFN) and globally with Nuffield.

Bayer is proud to provide a three year commitment in the form of a $240,000 grant to the University of Sydney to investigate the untapped potential of native grains.
