Bayer's Commitment to Reconciliation

Bayer is proud to announce the formal endorsement of our second Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) by Reconciliation Australia.

In line with our mission to achieve Health for all Hunger for None, developing this RAP has enabled us to identify ways in which Bayer can make a meaningful contribution to reconciliation.

The endorsement of our second Reflect RAP marks a significant milestone in our reconciliation journey. We published our first Reflect RAP in 2020, with the subsequent activities focusing on cultural awareness with employees at all levels, partnership opportunities with First Nations communities and non-profits, policy reviews and education.

Our second Reflect RAP, developed by our committed Reconciliation Working Group, paves the way for Bayer to continue to offer a culturally safe and informed workplace.

While this RAP sets out a future-looking roadmap, Bayer has been committed to and involved in reconciliation programs of work for many years. Since 2020, our journey has included:

  • 5 partnerships
  • 20 employee & stakeholder engagement sessions
  • Policy reviews to address inclusive language, procurement opportunities and 26 January alternatives for staff
  • A team of 10 on our reconciliation working group across our major sites and divisions.

Our RAP features incredible artwork Yanurumi (Meeting Place), 2021 by Flick Chafer-Smith, Ngarrindjeri people.

Flick is a Ngarrindjeri artist and Torch staff member who creates geometric, tessellated paintings inspired from moments in her childhood and stories passed on to her.

Artwork Story

Chafer

I believe the Elders and the universe work together to put you in situations that help you grow, building experience and lessons that will make you a better person. But most importantly, you will meet many people on our journey through life - some good, some not good, some are acquaintances and some are lifelong connections. The people around you help shape you into the person you are. Be open to what is put in your path because it has been put there for a reason.

By taking proactive steps towards reconciliation, we aspire to create a workplace that celebrates diversity, embraces cultural differences, and which ultimately sets an example for others to follow.
